A qualification Philippaerts MX1

A qualification Philippaerts MX1

MX1 Unexpected test of strength for David Philippaerts in qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix that saw the 2008 world champion from the second and deserved to win after Steven Frossard overtaken on lap four. Forte is a good feeling with the track located in a modern school Honda, DP19 has trimmed less than 13 seconds to teammate less sharp in the trajectory that has therefore chosen to give way to Philippaerts to follow and learn the most profitable places of track.

The third place went to Antonio Cairoli, who has recovered like a madman for the first starting around the tenth position and then sliding. Davide Guarneri rather unfortunate that in addition to being the finished ground at the start was involved in a frightening fall (it was overturned on a downhill braking), which forced him to the hospital to verify the findings of a severe pain in the neck.

Falls repeatedly penalized and even Clement Desalle Evgeny Bobryschev, finished 12th and 17th respectively.

MX2
Ken Roczen third pole in the MX2, where the German leader has once again exploited the full potential of his KTM to make race and if the finish line with 18 seconds ahead of Jeffrey Herlings, 27 and 43 at Gautier Paulin on Zac Osborne.

Fall at the first turn instead to the official Husqvarna Alex Lupino which is then finished 18th, three places after his team mate Andrea Cervellin.

Updates to exchange for Tommy Searle Kawasaki joints developed after the U.S. GP he did go on a rampage the owner Mitch Payton of Pro Circuit as a good starting point after the departure of English KX-F was smoked by Kappa Roczen have failed manforte the number two in the league that has been disqualified for being helped to turn the bike when it was raised after a fall. What Would Colin Edwards Do?

As fast as Colin Edwards is on the track, the Texas Tornado may be even quicker behind a microphone.

We saw some of that last year in the Yamaha-produced ?Man-Cation? video with Edwards and his then-Tech 3 teammate Ben Spies, and Edwards can always be relied upon for a good quote at press conferences.

The producers of MotoGP?s official video podcast ?After the Flag? have taken notice of CEIII?s wit. Edwards and other Grand Prix racers regularly take part in a segment called ?Ask the Riders? where they answer questions from fans. Edwards has proven to be so entertaining in these segments, he?s getting his own new segment on ?After the Flag?.

The new ?Dear Colin? segment has Edwards giving advice on problems submitted by fans with his usual quick wit. Want to know how to set up your suspension? Ask Colin. Your girlfriend left you? Ask Colin. Having a disagreement with James Toseland? ASK COLIN.

Catch Colin Edwards? on the After the Flag podcast on iTunes or send in your own personal problem to asktheriders@motogp.com and see what advice Colin will provide.

Laverty looks ahead after epic Monza success

313_r04_spies_lavertyEugene Laverty enjoyed one of the most amazing days of his racing career two weekends ago, when he scored his first podium, his first win and his first double win just four races into his WSBK career at Monza for the locally-based Yamaha World Superbike team. We caught up with the 24 year-old Irishman for a chat as he gets ready to head overseas for the upcoming round at Miller Motorsports Park in the USA.

Sunday at Monza was a very special day for you. How did it feel when you finally went to bed that night?
“It really hadn’t sank in. I know that’s a much overused expression but it was genuinely the case for me. I sat in my motorhome with my girlfriend Pippa and a few friends and watched the races back over a cup of tea. After watching the final lap of race two I was absolutely buzzing so I put an episode of Irish sitcom ‘Father Ted’ on TV to try and wind down before bed! The following evening I realised why the whole experience had seemed so bizarre. I remembered that I’d had a dream on Thursday night that I’d won both races at Monza so in a way I’d already went through all the emotions.”

You and your teammate, Marco Melandri, came to the team from very different career paths. How much information do you share?
“Both sides of the garage share information, that’s the key to our success this season. We made big steps forward in the first few rounds because Marco and I offered similar feedback and so the direction was clear. We may have had different career paths but at the end of the day a great rider will figure out the fastest way around the track on any given bike. I was immediately fast on the R1 the first time I rode it at Magny-Cours as was Marco on his first outing at Valencia so this proves that the gap between street bikes and race bikes is much smaller than it’s ever been.”

Do you feel any pressure trying to live up the very high standards set by the team’s previous rookies, Ben Spies (in the photo, with Laverty) and Cal Crutchlow?
“My situation is rather different to Ben’s and Cal’s. Both riders had ridden superbikes for a few seasons in domestic championships and so they were expected to be immediately quick. The team have put absolutely no pressure on me to perform as this season has been cited as a learning year. Naturally that view will shift somewhat after our fantastic double victory at Monza but there will be times when we’re reminded that this is my first season on a superbike. Just look at Donington for example; I struggled there due to my lack of superbike experience. I’ve only just completed my fourth round in the World Superbike Championship though so I’d rather not get ahead of myself!”

The crowd in Monza was hostile towards the podium finishers because of Max Biaggi’s penalty. What was your feeling about their reaction and do you think the punishment was justified?
“This has been talked about a lot following Monza but it’s as simple as this: Over the past few seasons the rules have been the same for cutting the chicanes at Monza. The punishment may not fit the crime for such a small mistake but we’ve all been aware of the severity of this and so we’ve made very sure to obey the rules. Max did not obey the rules and he paid the price. I overshot one of the chicanes in race two but I made sure to reenter the track correctly so as not to suffer this fate. I didn’t feel that the crowd was hostile to be honest. I’ve no doubt that there was tension in the air between the rivalling Italian riders’ fans but they gave me a warm welcome on the podium as well as in the paddock afterwards.”

What do you like about Miller Motorsports Park, and is it similar to any European tracks?
“Miller Motorsports Park really suits my style, particularly the fast flowing turns which start the lap. For this reason the track reminds me of Assen but really Miller Motorsports Park is quite a unique track. There’s no other track on our calendar that boasts a section like The Attitudes! This left-right-left complex is hard work and it’s important to be pinpoint accurate through here so as not to touch the side of the bike on the high kerbs. I couldn’t have hoped for a better track to follow up my double win at Monza. I’m confident of another podium finish in the U.S. and hopefully I can get myself into the title fight over the next few rounds.”

Honda NSF250R Moto3 Bike

Honda Racing Corporation has decided to unveil their long-awaited NSF250R 4-stroke bike at the Catalunya race circuit in Barcelona on June 2, 2011, just in time for the future Moto3 class that?s set to take the place of the current 125cc category of the GP125 class of the FIM Road-Racing World Championship.

The new NSF250R 4-stroke bike bears striking similarities to the bike it?s replacing, the RS125R. Incidentally, the RS125R was ridden by both Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso to their respective World Championship runs.

In developing the NSF250R, Honda Racing Corporation wanted to build a bike that took the same high-performance, lightweight, and compact elements of the RS125R. ?We want users to ride with the same sense of comfort and inherits important elements from the RS125R such as the ability to learn the basics for moving up from entry level to the MotoGP,? HRC explains.

The bike is scheduled to have its official press face time on June 2nd at the Catalunya circuit in Barcelona with a public demonstration by Alex Criville happening a day later on June 3rd followed by another demo lap right after the warm-up session of the MotoGP race on Sunday, June 5th.

Those of you interested in keeping tabs on the new Moto3 class of MotoGP, you might find it worth your time to check out the bike that?s being groomed to contend in the new series beginning in 2012.

Honda NSF250R Moto3 Bike originally appeared on topspeed.com on Tuesday, 24 May 2011 15:15 EST.

Rossi Testing Ducati GP12 At Mugello, Alongside New Ducati Superbike

The return of the 1000cc MotoGP bikes in 2012 is keenly awaited, and testing for the 2012 season is now well underway. Ducati has had two days of testing at Jerez back in April, while Casey Stoner put in two days on the Honda at Jerez earlier this month.

As they did for the switch to 800cc back in 2007, Ducati is getting a lot of work done early, as Valentino Rossi is back on track at Mugello today (Thursday), testing the GP12 again, according to reports at GPOne.com. Rossi's test day will be the third of the eight days testing allowed with contracted (i.e. current MotoGP) riders on the 2012 machine, and as GPOne.com suggests, is a clue that the emphasis for Ducati is very much on being competitive from the start of the 2012 season.

2011 Season Kicks Off

Qatar in March is an oddity. A race in the cooler evening air, floodlit. If that’s not different enough for you, throw in a covering of sand which makes any excursion from the thin, black racing line an adventure in optimism or blind faith depending on the rider.
So Qatar is not a good race to [...]

MotoGP riders do not want to go to Japan

MotoGP riders do not want to go to Japan

When Carmelo Ezpeleta Safety Commission announced the riders that “90% of the Japanese Grand Prix will be played” on Saturday afternoon and the IRTA, the association of the team, sent an email saying that the teams at the moment, the trip is confirmed. Arousing the concerns of the pilots.

Jorge Lorenzo: “Whatever the decision – thundered the champion of the world – I’m not going at Motegi. I have nothing against Japan, but the nuclear danger is too great. ” More or less on the same wavelength as his colleagues.

Valentino Rossi: “Everyone tells me that in Japan they do not want to go and I’m not too convinced. In July, a final decision will wait and see what happens. ”

Marco Simoncelli , as usual, gets along with a joke: “If I had 70 years maybe I would have fewer problems, but being so young ….”

Also surprised by Casey Stoner: “When we talked about Japan, we thought we would say that the GP was canceled, but we found ourselves facing a situation opposite. But I think there are many more important aspects of a motorcycle race …. “
