2011 Assen MotoGP Post Race Round Up: It's That Man Again

Saturday's MotoGP race was either a real snoozer or a fantastic spectacle, depending on your point of view. For the racing purist, the kind of fan who appreciates seeing masterful riding, watching someone push the bike to the limit constantly and precisely for full race distance, there was plenty to marvel at. For the casual fan, someone who wants to watch several riders giving it their all in a close battle right to the end, it was dull as ditch water, the first-lap crash giving ultimate winner Ben Spies a gap that he could exploit, and one more pass for the podium positions on lap two settling the race.

eam as the strongest candidate Repsol Honda MotoGP world champion 2011.
People who have a major role in. Yamaha's Valentino Rossi brought the end of 2003 is argued, Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa will be difficult dammed. Nevertheless, Jarvis still entering the name of world champion 2010, Jorge Lorenzo. Yamaha rider is judged to still have the potential to retain the title. He also did not include the name of Rossi as the strongest challenger to the three earlier riders (Pedrosa, Stoner, Lorenzo).

This statement came in an exclusive interview with Crash.net in Sepang, Malaysia. He gave predictions about the 2011 MotoGP in general, as well as the strength of post-Yamaha Rossi's departure.

"I think the fact so, that Honda is consistently very quickly. It can not be denied. During the three day test at Sepang and the first test here, they are so fast. Therefore, I have to say to opponents: Do not underestimate the Honda.

"I think we will be competitive. It depends on each track. On a track that a lot of corners, we hope to benefit, but on tracks that require high acceleration is the key. This is the area that we have to work hard. This is where we say that the Honda rider very strong, high-speed even though the lower teeth. "

Overall, Jarvis admitted that there were seven riders to be competitive. In addition to the three Repsol Honda rider (Stoner, Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso), there is still a satellite Honda Gresini team rider, Marco Simoncelli, two Yamaha riders (Lorenzo and Ben Spies), and the Ducati rider, Rossi.

"But my personal opinion, the fight for world title fight just between Casey, Jorge and Dani. That is my wish. I think Vale will still need additional time to adapt and motor development. Let us see, but never underestimate the Vale. With the first series of live four weeks, he may need more time. "

Regarding gait Spies, who will be the tandem Lorenzo in Yamaha factory team, Jarvis still hoping to rookie of the year, 2010. Moreover, a Texas-based rider is performing consistently over the last season with Tech 3 Yamaha, and showed impressive performance at twice the official test at Sepang.

"I think he needs time to become a serious challenger to world champion. But maybe I'm wrong. All I can say is, he had to impress us and he will be on the right track.

Jarvis, including a figure that contributed to the success of Yamaha. It starts with hook Rossi from Honda at the end of 2003, and continue to perpetuate their power until the 2010 season ago.

That they achieved the best performance when it won three titles at once in MotoGP (driver, constructor and team) in the last three years. It was obtained through Rossi and Lorenzo.

Simoncelli takes pole in Assen

Simoncelli takes pole in Assen

Simoncelli takes pole in Assen

ASSEN – A seventy minute long turn dry in the morning to retrieve the annulled yesterday afternoon sun for the afternoon qualifying: MotoGP has been spared by the weather, always extremely variable in Assen with a continuous alternation of sunshine and rain .
The fear of water has “recommended” drivers to push right from the start and so the qualifying session was quite lively, with Marco Simoncelli once again a great protagonist. SuperSic version “Stoner” and can immediately set a high threshold, and then gradually refine it with every passing minute. So came the second pole season, won after that in Barcelona, ??with Marco, who has also shown a step by fear: today is the man to beat.

ANOMALOUS FRONT ROW
A on the side will snap Ben Spies, who finished just 9 thousandths: good performance for the Yamaha rider, who closes for the first time in front of his team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, fourth and trailing by four tenths. Casey Stoner in third place, his usual explosive as ever: indeed, for once, Casey has struggled to just get the rhythm in the final and only managed to snatch a good third. The first impression is that on this track, the Honda has the great advantage of the other GP with Yamaha very fast, as confirmed by the sixth place of Cal Crutchlow, a veteran of the operation to his collarbone a few days ago. Andrea Dovizioso fifth to 526 milliseconds from the pole: a good performance for Andrea, who has played in qualifying with a breach of the fifth metatarsal in his left foot, due to a fall in practice in the morning.

DISASTER RED
Only eleventh Valentino Rossi trailing by 1 “846 and behind the Ducati of Abraham (seventh to 1″ from the first 024), Hayden (ninth) and De Puniet (tenth). Up to five minutes from the end, Valentino was even next to last, then, mounting two soft tires – even the front: a bad sign, it means that the dura is not heated – has managed a little ‘to go back, but it is clear that this was not the goal when we decided to venture the GP11.1. In short, there is still a lot ‘to do.

FEAR FOR CAPIROSSI
bad fall for Loris Capirossi, fortunately without serious consequences. “And ‘consciousness, the carry to the hospital only for tests, but there should be no complications,” he reassured all of Dr. Claudio Macclesfield. After a more thorough visit, however, showed that Capirossi had a fractured shoulder, broken ribs and a 3-4 head trauma reabsorbed.

REACTIONS TO THE FIRST HOT
Simoncelli: “I am very happy, the bike is good on both dry and wet (Mark was the fastest in both conditions, nda). Qualifying went well, now it’s time to realize in the race. Up to now have always been quick to Saturday, we hope to continue like this here …. ”
Spies: “It ‘a good feeling to celebrate 50 years of racing with Yamaha on the front row. I could also take pole but Capirossi crashed in front of me and I am a bit ‘scared. In any case, that’s okay: they are in place for the race. ”
Stoner: “We’re a little ‘in difficulty, we are not perfectly centered with the setting and my race pace is not very good. We absolutely must take a step forward, although, overall, we are not in bad shape. ” Rank 1SIMONCELLI M. San Carlo Honda Gresini1: 34,718 +0,009 2SPIES B. Journalists give an opinion on Rossi and Ducati

Journalists give an opinion on Rossi and Ducati

Journalists give an opinion on Rossi and Ducati

ASSEN – no point in hiding behind a finger on the Ducati and Valentino Rossi all odds I was wrong. Honestly, I was convinced that Valentine would have fared better, as I did not think that the Ducati would have been capable of a response so fast. Now it has arrived at Assen GP11.1, deeply modified the frame and, consequently, in the engine, I’m not sure what to expect. So I decided to avoid yet another fool, and I asked the opinion of Italian journalists who follow the MotoGP World Championship, asking them two questions: 1) Did you expect a response so rapid and so important by the Ducati? 2) From now on forward do you expect better results from Valentino Rossi?

Here is the result of my mini-survey.
PHILIP Falsaperla (BBC)
1) was not quite imagine such a thing. Remaking a motorcycle from scratch in mid-season for a small house like the Ducati is something unpredictable and perhaps the result of an offensive strategy that goes beyond the limits of logic.
2) the psychological aspect can certainly have a positive influence , as well as having to prove something important. But I think that changing the character of a motorcycle with some moves can not be: this bike was to be 2012 and in very difficult times (during the presentation of Madonna di Campiglio, note) had been told that the revolution would not be a GP12, but a simple evolution. Probably there will be improvements, but the gap is wide: to recover up to win I think is very difficult. It is perhaps easier to approach the podium. ”

PAUL SCALERA (Corriere dello Sport)
1) A response so rapid it was a surprise, though the last month and a half all the tests were made ??with the GP12 think that, at least, would try to use the developments on the GP11. I did not expect even did debut a completely new bike, which may make some big steps forward, but also great risks.
2) will start a little ‘difficult, but if you have taken this decision so risky, and certainly expensive although, on this aspect, Filippo Preziosi (the engineer technical director of Ducati Corse, nda) has minimized, meaning that they have had some positive feedback: a minimum improvement would not do so.

GUIDO MEDA (Sport Mediaset)
1) I did not expect a reaction from Ducati so speedy. Stupidly, though: I should have thought, I should have remembered the words that Valentino has said several times during this season, how good is this group of work, like Ducati are more reactive. We had said that there was no comparison with the Japanese and he was right.
2) No. In the sense that I think it’s fair to have a modicum of patience. I expect they get better results, but not immediately. I expect him to have a better feeling with the bike, perhaps will go well at Mugello, where he has already shot with a similar motion with the 1000. But here at Assen is not certain that you can expect to win or wins hands down: it would be folly.

MAXIMUM ANGELETTI (Rai)
1) In part, I expected a reaction from the Ducati I was surprised at the lack of answers. A company like Ducati, being small, has made ??technology his best weapon and I was amazed that put her in the field so I’m not very surprised by this technological response.
2) Rossi is unknown: it is up to date not just that feeling. A Valentine certainly not missing the class, technique, courage, but lack the confidence, confidence with the bike. I hope that with this news we can find it: we will see the results immediately. ”

Carlo Pernat (grid, Capirossi’s manager)
1) It was in a violent reaction of the Ducati. I did not expect a total reaction, because here we are talking about a complete bike. Being a small company is a lean, this is a good thing.
2) Hard to say if the results will come. Valentino is still the strongest rider of all, but when you have no feeling with an engine is very hard to catch him. It will be a challenge. It is very difficult to get the best of the first six races, especially not with regard to the position but the gap: the battle is won if the gaps from the first fall.

ALBERTO PORTA (Sport Mediaset)
1) I did not expect a reaction so imposing and so much substance. We expected a significant step forward: it was made ??a leap into the future, returning to the present with the engine 800.
2) I am convinced that Valentino will be able to obtain better results, because the feeling that is created between rider and bike, to the Beyond performance, counts for a lot: the GP12, Valentino has been found well, now it is to recreate the chemistry between the bike and rider, we hope it is enough to see him on the podium.

ALEN STICKERS (Mediaset Premium)
1) I did not expect quite such a reaction. Only the Ducati, the Italian mentality, could do such a thing: they did well, even in the future.
2) Difficult to reach the results already in this race, because it serves so long to fix a motorcycle. By the end of the season, however, there will be improvements and we see constantly in front of Valentino.

Marco Masetti (Freelance Journalist)
1) A surprise, vastly superior to any provision-
2) I expect better results, because this is a bike that feels his own, while the other, the GP11 has called the daughter of other drivers: so rejected, it was his fault!

Female Rider to Race Moto2 at Assen

The Mapfre Aspar Moto2 team has named Elena Rosell the replacement rider for the injured Julian Simon in the June 25 Moto2 race at Assen.

Rosell will become the first woman to ever race in the Moto2 class and the first in any Grand Prix road racing class since Katja Poensgen competed in the 250cc class during the 2003 season. Rosell regularly races Stock Extreme class of Spain?s CEV championship, currently sitting 11th in the standings.

Other female racers who have competed in the Grand Prix World Championships include Tomoka Igata, Taru Rinne, Nikoletta Kovacs and Marketa Janakova.

Rosell will have a tough job filling in for Simon, the 2009 125cc GP Champion and runner up in the 2010 Moto2 Championship. Simon suffered multiple fractures in his right leg after a crash at the Catalan Grand Prix. Simon currently sits 5 in the 2011 Moto2 standings despite the crash at Catalunya and missing the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Simon is expected to be out for a while longer but it isn?t clear if Rosell or another rider will fill in for other upcoming rounds.

Yamaha Cancels 1000cc Roll Out At Mugello, No Factory Bikes At Monday Test

The Monday test after Mugello was one of the most anticipated occasions in recent memory. For that was to be the first time that the media - and therefore vicariously, the fans - would get a chance to see all three of the factory MotoGP bikes due to be raced next season. Most of the shine has now come off that test, though: After Ducati and Honda let it slip that they would not be testing their 2012 machines at Mugello a week on Monday, today, Yamaha announced that they, too, had decided against taking their 1000cc M1 on track at the test. Instead, Yamaha will wait until the post-race test at Brno in mid-August before putting factory riders Ben Spies and Jorge Lorenzo on the machine.
